Latest version supports XML schema generation and offers enhanced logical/physical translation capabilities. SAN FRANCISCO - Sept. 12, 2007 - Embarcadero Technologies, Inc. today released the latest version of ER/Studio, its flagship data modeling tool. ER/Studio version 7.5 offers support for XML schema generation, allowing data modelers and application developers to collaborate on service-oriented architecture (SOA) initiatives. Also new with ER/Studio 7.5 is an enhanced conversion utility to improve the precision when migrating data models from tools such as CA ERwin Data Modeler, Sybase PowerDesigner and many others. These new features give data modelers and architects greater flexibility and control by extending the level of customization and validation throughout the application and database lifecycle. Data architects can now more effectively collaborate with other parties managing SOA implementations and data governance programs by defining, deploying and reusing the standards traditionally used for database management. Information can be better consumed by and repurposed to a wider range of audiences. "Our clients' databases reside on multiple platforms in both local and remote locations, which presents a challenge when managing consistency and redundancy in data modeling activities," said Christopher Robin, database administrator, Advanced System Design, Inc. "Our long-term goal is to help build clear, well documented data models that will enforce standards, enable reuse, and improve the efficiency and quality of modeling projects for our clients. ER/Studio 7.5 makes that a reality. The new naming standards utility allows us to deploy multiple standards to our various database platforms. We also plan to take advantage of the new XSD wizard to leverage XML for future BI [business intelligence] initiatives." New ER/Studio 7.5 features include:
"The value of an SOA environment is contingent on two basic things: accessible information and refined processes to deliver its payload to its consumer," said Greg Keller, vice president of product management for Embarcadero Technologies, Inc. "And at the epicenter of an SOA environment is XML. The data architect now is on the front lines of assisting application architects seeking standard data definitions for use in SOA-based projects and they demand the data definitions in well formed, standards-based XML schemas. XML is a new paradigm to data architects and DBAs alike so we've designed ER/Studio 7.5 to make the process of concept to delivery of the customized XML entirely understandable and repeatable to ensure their success and deep participation in the SOA development lifecycle."
