SAN FRANCISCO - Jan. 23, 2009 - Embarcadero Technologies, Inc., a database tools and developer software company, has named Jan Liband as the company’s new vice president of marketing. In this role, Liband will oversee Embarcadero’s marketing efforts worldwide, including strategic marketing initiatives, company and product evangelism, demand generation, brand development and awareness, sales enablement, alliances and on-line presence. Liband joins Embarcadero from Encirq, a provider of high-performance embedded database technologies, where he was vice president of marketing. Before that, he led corporate and product marketing for SourceForge, Inc., and was key in driving more than 400 percent growth for the SourceForge Enterprise Edition business. Liband also led marketing for the Embedded Platforms Division of Wind River Systems, Inc., and was director of marketing for Diab-SDS, a leading supplier of C/C++ development tools, before its acquisition by Wind River. Prior to that, he held senior marketing and sales management positions at Orion Instruments, Inc., a maker of in-circuit emulators for microprocessors. Liband holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. “Jan’s leadership skills and twenty-five years of experience in all facets of marketing, product management and sales for software development and data management tools is a perfect fit for Embarcadero and will be invaluable in taking our business to the next level and deliver on the strengths of the CodeGear acquisition from Borland,” said Wayne Williams, CEO of Embarcadero Technologies.
